Football related rant. Regard this as a non-post.

If you didn't know already, Carlo Ancelotti was sacked yesterday after quite a dismal season at the helm of Chelsea Football Club. For me, I thought it was the correct decision. He didn't seem to instill any motivation in his players. I didn't think he had any great ideas with the squad, or the first team. He said he wanted to try more with the youth this season. What does he do? Send 3 of the more promising youth members (Jeffrey Bruma, Patrick Van Aanholt and Gael Kakuta) out on loan, letting 1 (Josh McEachran, granted, he was the best one) warm the bench week after week; with the unfortunately very occasional appearance from the bench. That's not "trying more with the youth", is it Carlo?

Carlo was brought in to do one thing - win the Champions League. And after two years now of our worst runs in the competition, he failed that miserably. Another reason why it was the right decision to let him go. We started this season fantastically, we were cruising at the top of the league. Suddenly, November popped round and we had a bit of a blip month. Every team has blips, don't panic. Then December. We were still having a blip. Then January. Then February. Then up until March 1st, when we beat Manchester United at Stamford Bridge and it rejuvenated our season. We somehow managed to claw back an 18 point deficit to just 3. Until we lost against Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford. Had we won that match, we would have gone top of the league with just 2 games to play. In that 2-1 defeat, though, Chelsea performed as badly as I've ever seen them play. When you have a chance to take the league, you don't perform like that. That can only be down to one thing - the manager.

The only thing I didn't like about his sacking was how quickly and, in all honesty, how ruthlessly it was done. The hierarchy should have waited a few days first, have meetings, sort the whole thing out first before just sending him packing. That was done in bad taste, but I still agree with it.

Anyway, a bit of background to what I wanted to rant about originally.

Because of this really poor run we've had, on The Shed End (the forum I frequent, and have ranted about it before) many of the older members who were there in the supposedly "good ol' days" of the 1970s and 80s. There's actually a thread where all the older members go and discuss who football has lost its soul compared to back in their day. Now, to be honest, I really don't find that very fair at all. I see myself as a die-hard Chelsea fan, but because I started supported Chelsea in 1998 (the first year I was actually aware of what the hell football was, when I was just 6 years old), my opinion isn't as highly regarded as theirs. Which is just insane. At the moment, when Chelsea finished the season so poorly, I'm excited by the prospect of a new manager coming in, giving the team a much-needed rejuvination; getting rid of the older players etc. What are they doing? Complaining, complaining and fucking complaining. No matter what happens, whoever comes in won't be able to match that of the 70s Chelsea. So, 3 Premierships, 4 FA Cups, 2 Carling Cups and the odd Community Shield isn't as good as the 1970s Chelsea that were as far down as Division 3 (League 1 equivalent today), and had ONE FA Cup trophy in the last 20 years. Yeah, I can see how that's better.

This comment drove me to insanity. "It with a very heavy heart that I now admit to supporting Chelsea." Now that's the final straw. Even if Chelsea collapse and fall down to the Conference, I won't give up supporting Chelsea. One bad season, and suddenly you're ashamed? Fuck off, you arrogant prick. Shit happens. If we go the next 3 years winning the Premiership twice and the Champions League once, you'll be happy again. If the season after we don't win anything, you'll be ashamed. This is from a supposedly "old days" Chelsea fan. Nope. You're a glory hunter, pal. I'm sticking with Chelsea thick and thin, no matter what,

Get off your high horses, and just support the fucking club you've supported since you were small.

Christ I'm fucking angry.
