A Christmas Rant.

So here I am. A good-looking, talented young man (my arse) sitting in front of the computer searching for something to do to pass the 2 hours left before the epic that is Live At The Apollo, tonight has Dara O'Brien and Frankie Boyle! One of the great pairings if ever there was one. But anyway. Here I am, and to pass the time, I'll write a new post for my blog! It's been over a month since my last one, and it's fitting that it's just before Christmas, as it gives me something to write about.

What a shit Christmas it's going to be. The fact that it's shit, however, is my fault. 2008 hasn't been the best of years for me, but I should stop having a go, 'cause the whole shit that's happened was inflicted by yours truly. Ohhh, I've screwed up so many times this year. Other than on August 21st. But that wasn't my doing. That was just the fact that my results turned out to be good. The other 351 (?) days this year (today being the 352nd) have been shit. Sorry for the upcoming cliché, but I simply MUST make 2009 the best thing since sliced bread.

But anyway. To the title of this post.

So, it's that time of year again. A time of happiness and family gatherings with those relatives you haven't seen in years and you don't really want to see them again. Yes, Uncle Knobhead is coming to town. The town being Loughborough. I've loved Christmas for as long as I can remember. The build up, seeing all the lights being put up, buying the annual Christmas tree and giving your parents (sorry kids) your list of possible presents. But this year, none of that has had the usual spark. Other than the Christmas tree. That's actually half decent. But everything else. Ffffffffffffff. No one has really bothered with Christmas lights this year. My mum has, but no one else has. I look forward to walking around the area at night around Christmas and looking at the lights. But this year, there's fuck all here. There's another cliché coming. There's no Christmas Spirit. Sorry, Andrew, I may have just broken your cliché bell. No one seems to be bothered about Christmas this year. There's so much stuff I want for Christmas this year which would've been brilliant last year when I had no clue what I wanted, but the year I know what I want, it doesn't feel like Christmas. Great timing.

Hopefully, the trip to Loughborough should brighten things up. And some snow would be nice too. And the Annual New Year Party at Ceri's. But if they don't work, it tops off a really shit year.

Oh the wonders of the word shit.

What was the best thing before sliced bread?

I was bored and had far too much time on my hands so I started asking myself random questions, in my head obviously, and I really couldn't figure out the answers to them.

Here's a list of some I was thinking of:
  • If one synchronised swimmer drowns, do the rest have to drown too?
    • If a man with no arms has a gun, is he armed?
    • When cheese gets its picture taken what does it say?
    • Is there such a thing as a closet claustrophobic?
    • When French people swear do they say 'pardon my English'?
    • What's the speed of dark?
    • Why don't sheep shrink when they get wet?
    • Why are the RSPCA not concerned about toad in the hole?
    • If a tin whistle is made of tin what's a fog horn made of?
    • If Big Issue was printed in A5 size would ie be known as Little Issue?
    • Why is a boxing ring square?
    • How does the snow plough driver get to work in the morning?
    • What did they go back to before they invented the drawing board?
    • Why do your feet smell and your nose run?
    • Do chickens think rubber humans are funny?
    • How do the "Keep Off The Grass Signs" get there?
Answers on a postcard.

A little blog about my TV programs.

Heroes. Lost. Fringe. Prison Break. 24. Family Guy. QI. Mock The Week.

Well, they're all just brilliant shows, to put it simply. The list above isn't in any order, but Heroes is Number 1.

So, Heroes. Possibly the greatest TV show ever to grace my television set. I've probably said that to Power Rangers, but still. It rules. It's amazing how attached someone can get to a program. For example, I feel I've struck up a good relationship with Elle and Claire. I'm guessing you can all guess why. But still, before this series I thought Sylar was just plain evil and Suresh was cool as hell. But now, it's been reversed. God, they're good writers! My personal faveourite character that doesn't fall into the "Phwooar" category is Hiroooooooooooooooooo. He's class fair play. Peter is getting a bit ¬¬ at the moment aswell. I would write more but it would give away things from series 3 that some of you haven't seen, so I'll keep shtum at the moment. Oh and I think that Mirain is officially my Heroes buddy. :)

Now, Fringe. What a program. It's yet to really get going at the moment. So far they've gone to different people/things, with no connection to eachother as yet. I'm sure they will connect somehow in someway, but even though it hasn't properly started yet, it's still brilliant. My Fringe blog will probably get bigger as theere have been no big shocks yet.

Prison Break. Probably the worst of these 3. What's the point of having a show called Prison Break, if they're out of Prison? It's going to get predictable by the end unfortunately. Series 1 - in Prison. 2 - on the run. 3 - back in Prison. 4 - out of Prison, trying to see freedom. It's still very very good, but it just seems a bit stupid. I'm watching till the end though, just to find ot what happens to Michael and Link.

Dead Set. This has finished now, as it was only on for 5 days, but my god it was scary. The first program ever to actually scare me to be honest. The last episode! Oh my god, how gorier could it have gotten? Bloke getting eaten by about 6 zombies, legs been ripped off, stomach ripped open, intestines falling out and still he screams "Eat me! Fucking eat meee!!" until his head gets ripped off and his spine gets pulled out. Gory much?

I really can't be bothered to write anymore but I'll just say this:

Lost is just sheer brilliance.
I want Peter Griffin to be my Dad.
Jack Bauer to be my cool uncle.
And Michael McIntyre to be my older brother.

:D

Ciao for now!

This post means nothing, it's just a sign that I'm bored.

Well, I guess this post is just a reason for me to pass the time. Oh, and I havenoticed I've used "Well," many times in my 3 posts so far, and I don't inted to stop.

I guess this post will be about my Drama prac. What is there to say about it? Well, (used it again...) basically, it's going to be terrifying for Mirain, and painful for the rest of us. God, when Miss told us about Artaud's or Brecht's (?) theatre of cruelty, she wasn't joking. To put it simply, me and Osian will have to carry a sturdy plank of wood and walk across the stage. Oh, and did I mention Mirain will be standing on top of the plank? We had a little test run with a metal box lid and it hurt. The ends of the lid dug into my palms as we walked across the studio, but I have to say Osian got off worse. A blue dent in the middle of his hand, which'll turn into a big ass bruise. That's dedication. That aside, our drama is potentially brilliant. It's just down to us to deliver, but my god, it's going to be difficult.

I think I'll move on to something slightly different. Arsenal's youngsters. Let's review.

1st round of the Carling Cup vs. Sheffield United. Pretty decent side, hoping to get back into the Premiership this season. They were hammered by a side with an average age of 18 6-0.

2nd round of the Carling Cup vs. Wigan Athletic. Again, pretty decent side, mid-table in the league, and they've out their full strength side out against these youngsters. Score? 3-0. With 10 minutes to go.

Now. Full-strength Arsenal side with Adebayor, Van Persie, Fabregas - the whole lot. They manage to lose 2-1 to Stoke City. Does that not send a message to Arsene Wenger? Arsenal first team not playing the best football, Arsenal reserves/youth playing brilliantly. Why not play the yoingsters week in, week out? They're obviously better than the first team, so why not give it a go? Or at least put half of them in your first team. Players like Ramsey and Vela. Ramsey is an awesome player (plus he's Welsh so he's doubly brilliant) and Vela has 4 goals in to Carling Cup matches, and will match Walcott for pace.

Now I'm a Chelsea fan, but I have to admire Arsenal's youngsters. I'm seriously worried for the future because in all honesty, Chelsea have not got the best reserve/youth team. We have a couple of good players, but not a team (sorry for the cliché). Arsenal's future is looking bright and the best of luck to them.

Right, Prison Break is on soon! So this is my fond farewell.

Cheers, Rhys.

The X Factor

Well, these things have been daily so far! That gives my 2 followers something to pass the time.

It's official. The public really don't know a good singer when they hear one. Ruth and Laura in the bottom 2? Daniel and Eoghan through to next week? Something must be done.

I really don't get Ee-og-han. He's my age and he's missing out on his A Level education for a singing contest. I'm guessing "The X Factor is the most important thing in his life" at the moment. Err, no. It's the fact that he's now idolised by millions of 10 year olds and mum's alike. That's something to be chuffed about. If it were millions of 16/17/18 year old girls, then fair enough. But mum's? Come on! Wouldn't you rather get into Uni on merit than because you were on The X Factor?

I can happily say that I'm having the time of my life in the Sixth Form at the moment. Quite a bit of work, but it's worth it. Piss around in your free lessons, have a laugh in the lessons. Brilliant!

Some in my year are not amused by Sixth Form as much as me, mind. A few actually don't like Sixth Form, but some only don't like it because those few don't like it. *cough* *cough*. That option is obviously for my comrades from school, although if any of you older readers (can't knock an optimist like me!) can put any name there if you like. Answers on a postcard.

Well that was an interesting post. From The X Factor to Sixth Form. That gives you an insight into my mind. I am able to connect two completely different topics in anyway possible. Oh well.

Oh and as I mentioned Ruth and Laura, I must say something about some of the girls left on the show - Ruth, Diana, Alexandra. Phwooar.

:)

That Cheat Gerrard

This will be my first rant of my blog. Probably, the first of many. But anyway, here goes.

How has Gerrard got away with all his dives over the last few years? The amount is incredible! This video sums it up for me:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uVb2gbMtN3I

How can he get away with this? People have a go at Drogba for diving (which I agree with) and Ronaldo constantly, but does anyone pick up on Gerrard? My arse. Finally, after that horrendous jump into the Athletico player, a journalist - from the Guardian of all newspapers - has made an article on his achievements! I would paste the link but the server of the forum that the link is on is down, so I'll try and post it by the end of this post.

But anyway, without the article, everyone has to admit that the video up there is enough evidence that Gerrard is as much of a cheat as the Drogba's and Ronaldo's of this world.

Oh and I'm going to carry on this post with the topic of jammy Liverpool - or the scum as I will refer to them in this post. How many points have they gained from goals in the last 10 minutes of matches? Too many. If the games ended after 80 mins, the scum would be mid-table at the most.

Shocking.

Right, my battery is going so I better finish here.

Cheers, Rhys.

First Post!

Well, this is my first post on my first blog. Exciting news isn't it?

So, where to begin? Well, let's start from the beginning...

My mum and dad really loved each other 16 years ago and to express this they decided to....noooo I won't put you through that! But that's just a warning, I have a pretty rude mind.

Well. I went to the local nursery when I was 3 years old? And that was when I struck up a friendship with one Lewis Whetter and it started from there! We went to Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Garth Olwg. I was pretty much best friends with Lewis up until year 5 when we were separated - I went into year 6, he stayed in year 5 as he was in the younger half of the year. Shame really. I should really give a mention to Adam Hill as well. Our mother's met in Swansea Uni in their late teens and have stayed friends ever since and we loved near each other for years and me and Adam were besties from the word go. But he moved away somewhere, and didn't see him for a good 4/5 years. But then, he turns up in my year 4 class! Weird turn of events, but that's what happened! Then after that, we've been best friends ever since. Pure legend he is, fair play. But, it was in year 6 I became friends with a few people named, in alphabetical order, Andrew Ross, Christopher Burt, Tomos Prosser and Ieuan Riggs. God, year 6 was a fun year. Who can forget the memorable mooing cows in the field? Or "Boooootswaaaana!"? Brilliant.

Then, the 5 of us moved on to Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen, 7 Owain. Adam moved to 7 Gruffydd with god knows who. We were a great class, fair play. And year 7 was when I met a young man named Matthew Evans. What a legend he's turned out to be. Met him as a quiet kid that always had a nose in a book, but now he's completely come out of his shell and is among the funniest people I know. 7, 8 and 9 flew right by. In year 9, Andrew won the Eisteddfod for the first time in a long time for Owain. Brilliant. Then we moved on to the serious stuff - GCSE's. I opted to take Drama, History, French and Triple Science. Drama, History and French were brilliant, but Triple Science...bad move. Year 10 and 11 actually flew by too quickly and suddenly my exams were upon me. Absolutely bricking it at the time. But, I got through and my results were as follows:

  • French - A*
  • Drama - A
  • History - A
  • Maths - A
  • IT - B
  • Welsh Language - B
  • Welsh Literature - B
  • English Language - B
  • English Literature - B
  • Chemistry - B
  • RE - B
  • Biology - C
  • Physics - C

Absolutely ecstatic with my results. Received them while on a sunbed on holiday via text from Adam. Those results meant I could carry on to Sixth Form and I chose to carry on with Drama, History, French and IT. I was chosen to be a Swog for year 7 in Llangrannog and those 5 days in Llangrannog were just amazing. I had such a laugh with the rest of the Swogs. Then, recently, I went to London for 3 days to see Mamma Mia! and Les Miserables and those 3 days were again brilliant! Not quite Llangrannog, but still, awesome.

Well that just about wraps it up for now. Oh how can I finish without mentioning a few people...

  • Osian Williams
  • Michael Wescombe
  • Rhys Taylor
  • Ffion Rees
  • Mirain Williams
  • Emily Morris
  • Lowri Hughes
  • Sarah Thomas
  • Sarah Evans
  • Meilyr Rees
  • Ieuan Matthews
  • Gareth John
  • Kimberley James
  • Kate Jury

...but to name a few.

Anyway, hopefully you enjoyed this post and I'll be making some blogs when I feel I need to vent my feeling or opinions. Oh, and to finish, go Obama!

Cheers, Rhys.
